Your Questions Answered: Cengage Holds Video Press Conference

By Lorena Roberts on September 6, 2018

Often times college students are handed the responsibility of “doing something about it.” After all, history can point to several times when young professionals and students at Universities across the country sparked movements. Though it might not feel quite like a “movement” yet, the price of textbooks is something with which our college students are struggling to cope. Why are college textbooks so expensive? Why don’t colleges make a better effort to supplement how expensive books can be? What is it going to take before textbook prices will become reasonable for today’s college student?

According to a recent press release, now might be your chance. The CEO of Cengage, Michael Hansen, and Executive Vice President Sharon Loeb are holding a video press conference for college student reporters across our nation on Tuesday, September 11th at 1:00 p.m.

With 9 out of 10 college students reporting that the financial stress of buying textbooks comes second to the financial stress of tuition. But as you progress through college, who’s to say you don’t want to keep the books from your classes in case you need them in the future? This can be especially handy for those students who plan to attend graduate school.

It’s time someone has to answer to why textbook prices are so high, and it’s time someone came up with a reasonable solution. If you’re interested in more information, register here by September 10th.
